there are wild white morning glories that grow like weeds (the way morning glories do) up the bamboo.

and I've decided to plant heavenly blue morning glories there, to twine in the tall stems with the white ones. and sweet peas, and maybe scarlet runner beans.

how beautiful that would be, to have the flowers dripping out of the bamboo like that, all that hot and cool colour and then the green on top like the roof of the world, and then the smell of the sweet peas in the afternoon when the sun hits hot there, that would be worth the digging and the few dollars for seeds, don't you think? I'm working hard making paths and flowerbeds, shallow ramp-like steps and all sorts of nice places to sit and look at things, or past them.

well so far the package of morning glories has been planted, but somewhere else (well. several somewhere elses, containers and here and there around the yard) but the sweet peas haven't been planted yet. I've almost gotten the ground prepared for them. it's been slow going, cutting the bamboo back (and finding things to do with it, or places to pile it) and then bringing in soil I've reclaimed from around the yard, raking the big clumps and the rocks out of it (the rocks get thrown into piles around the yard - a fun game - and then tossed strategically into the creek or piled up to make little walls in the flowerbeds) and then fine-raking it again. but this weekend all the plants & seeds go in the ground. everyone can fend for themselves, make their own sandwiches and wash their own clothes. I'm already weeks behind the schedule I set for myself, but then again I'd be a faster worker if I didn't like to work on a million things at once. luckily, though, many of those projects support each other, and things are starting to come together.
